The Next Food Network Star...

Melissa
vs
Jeffrey

I admit it. I watched The Next Food Network Star and enjoyed it! I love to cook and love to learn about food and cooking.

Did anyone else watch it? Were you happy with the winner that was chosen?

Me? I was cheering for Jeffrey from day 1 and liked his approach to food slightly more than Melissa's. I'll watch her first episode, though, to see how it goes. I just really appreciate watching cooking shows that use new ingredients or methods of cooking so that I can learn and, in the end, cook good food for my family.

So if you watched the show, tell me what you think!!!

I watched the entire series and wanted Melissa to win from the very beginning. My nine year-old chef wanna-be son wanted Jeffery from the beginning. It will be interesting to see Melissa's show. Maybe Jeffry will end up with a show too. Some one from last year ended up with a show even though he didn't win. I think the network needed another "cook" and not another "chef".

I watched and wanted Melissa to win. I love her down-home approach but I don't see how see can do it with all those small girls! Jeffrey was great, too. However, he was bringing ingredients from places he traveled that I would probably never use or ever find. I can't wait to watch Melissa! I think she'll be great!! Blessings...

I didn't watch it ~ when I watch the Food Network it's usually to see Paula Deen. She's my BFF because her fav ingredients are butter, mayo, sour cream, and cheese!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shh, don't tell my doctor, though:)

I normally don't care for these types of shows but I LOVE The Next Food Network Star.

I had a feeling about half way through that it may end up between these two. Both were favorites.

I'm hoping they give Jeffry a show, too. They have come back and given one of the "losers" a show. I think it is possible because the judges liked both of them so much.

Melissa's show will be about cooking well with little money. That I could use right now. But I also want to here Jeffery describing foods I have never used before.

I'm glad I wasn't one of the judges last night. :)

Yay Melissa! I identified with her more then any of the other contestants and was not thrilled with Jeffery. I thought he was pedestrian at best- boring and unwatchable at worst. I liked the Korean lady as well, but I figure she didn't have a wide enough audience for The Food Network. So congratz Melissa.

Thanks doll,

This is the one show I watched this summer. For the first time, I would have been happy no matter which cook won. I'm so happy for Melissa and look forward to watching her show next week. I really like Jeffrey's show idea, too, and would probably enjoy his show.

Yes, I watched! I like them both, but really thought Jeffrey would win! Melissa seemed a little too intense for me, but her cooking looks great. I'm looking forward to seeing her new show!

Jeffrey was my pick in the beginning, but Melissa grew on me as she improved. Melissa's pilot was better than Jeffrey's and I think that put her over the top. I really think they will both end up with a show.

Watched it, loved it! Big fan of Melissa from the beginning. Although, Jeffrey was my 2nd choice. I'm very happy with the winner.

I didn't watch the first several shows because I wasn't sure I was going to. I didn't like how they did things last year and I didn't care for the winner they chose, I thought he was terrible! So after that I didn't plan on watching The Next Food Network Star anymore.

However about half way through I started watching and I liked Melissa's ideas. I agree with the commenter that said she's a bit intense sometimes and I think her voice can be a bit annoying. But I like the information she shares and think she'll have more longevity.

At first I liked Debbie but after the group challenge where all she did was cook her own food and then tried to lie about it I no longer cared for her.

I think Jeffery had some neat ideas/tips to share--loved the tip about making sure your seafood is dry before frying it!--But he came across as being a bit pretentious to me.

I was happy with the end result this year. (o:

I watched the last few episodes. I really wanted Jeffrey to win as well. It's not that I disliked Melissa. I liked the concept of her show a lot, the quick tips, the easy to remember formula's... but her energy was just a bit too much like Rachel Ray for me. That does not mean I do not like Rachel Ray, but I do not need two of her.
I would really hope that Jeffrey would get a show too, I would most certainly watch.

I liked Jeffrey a little better as a person, but I truly would more likely make Melissa's food. It's nice to learn about unusual ingredients, but I probably wouldn't cook with them, especially if they are hard to find.
So I guess I'm glad it turned out the way it did. I really wouldn't be surprised if they gave Jeffrey some sort of job, though; he sure has charisma.

I have to admit that I cheered for Melissa all the way. True, Jeffrey had new foods. But quite frankly some of them were not accesible in my opinoin. I hope Food Network Execs. like him so much that they will eventually incorporate him into the network! After all, they did that for Adam Gertler :)
