Yesterday I made tastiest drop biscuits to go with our lunch. I'm pretty sure that I could have eaten every single one of them!! Oh my!!!
I got the recipe from a cookbook from The Bread Beckers. I buy wheatberries from them and grind them into flour. While this recipe does call for freshly ground wheat, I don't see any reason why you couldn't use regular whole wheat flour from the grocery store instead. I haven't tried it, but I certainly would try it if I didn't have fresh wheat.
Okay... enough talk... here's the recipe and, oh my stars, are they delicious!!!!
Cheese and Herb Drop Biscuits
(from The Bread Beckers)
2 cups freshly milled flour (hard white)
1 T baking powder
1 tsp.salt
¼ cup oil
1 cup milk
2 cups extra sharp cheddar cheese
1 T Italian seasoning
1 T parsley
1 tsp garlic powder
Mix dry ingredients together. Make a “well” in the middle and then stir in milk and oil. Drop by big spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes. Makes 12 biscuits.

Oh, these look so yummy! I'm glad to finally find a recipe for drop biscuits that doesn't use Bisquick. I think I'll make these tonight to go with our vegetable soup!
Oh, my word, these look so delicious I wish I could reach through the computer screen and eat one, or two, or three! LOL No fair!
YUMMY!!!! I have to make those, I know my family will love them:) My husband just loves Cheddar cheese. Thank you for posting the recipe and pictures, Mrs. U:)
Julieann:)
These look delicious! I bet they'll taste yummy with a hot bowl of potato soup. :)
My family just loves biscuits. And I love making them. Yummy.
Mmm, I want one right now! They look great.
These are the best.
I've made them time and time again and now people request them wherever I go.
They are amazing. Sometimes (summer) I will use free herbs in here instead of the italian seasoning - makes them even better and more fresh!
THE BEST!
Hi Anonymous!!! Thank you SO much for sharing that you have enjoyed them!!
The only problem I have with them is that when I make them, I could probably eat all of them by myself!! LOL!!!
His,
Mrs. U
