Simple and Delicious Apple Dumplings...
Hurry! RUN to your kitchen and make this for your family tonight!!! Seriously, they will thank you for it!!
It's simple and delicious and the recipe is from Pioneer Woman.
Apple Dumplings
2 Granny Smith apples
2 cans crescent rolls
2 sticks butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoons vanilla
cinnamon
1 small can Mountain Dew
Peel and core apples. Cut apples into 8 slices each. Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll. Place in a 9 x 13 buttered pan. Melt butter, then add sugar and barely stir. Add vanilla, stir, and pour over apples. Pour Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Serve with ice cream, and spoon some of the sweet sauces from the pan over the top.

I have never in my life seen a recipe with Mountain Dew! The dumplings look so good. Do you think I could substitute 7up for the MD? I think MD is caffinated and I dont need to stay awake for very long after dinner. On the other hand, this would be a good dessert for Thanksgiving because it would counteract the Turkey sleep thing.
I made these the week she first posted the recipe on her site.
Oh, my. They are delicious.
Actually, I think they would be just as good with any lemon line drink (or ginger ale).
Wow...interesting comination of ingredients! I can almost smell them! Yum!
I've made this several times before and oh my goodness, they are GOOD!!! I do reduce the sugar, though. Oh, and I've also used the generic versions of Mt. Dew, and it's turned out just as wonderfully! :o)
Glamorous Housewife,
I would definitely try this using 7up or Sprite! And when you try it, please let me know how it turns out!! I am pretty sure it'll still be just as yummy!
