Let's get vacuuming!!!

You know, normally I like to share pretty pictures on my blog. Lovely photos that remind us of lovely things. But not today. Today I share these...

Why do I share these horrid photos? Because y'all, these are dust mites. And when you find dust in your home, THESE LITTLE CREATURES ARE THERE, TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday, Mr. U and Joshua moved our INCREDIBLY HEAVY bed so that I could vacuum underneath. I can not tell you the last time that I vacuumed under there because, well, uh, um, I, uh, do I have to admit that here? I, uh, sighhhhhhhhhhhh, I have never vacuumed under there.

Oh dear.

I said it.

Anyone still here?

Yes, I am ashamed to admit it, but it's true. I am NOT the best homekeeper, but I am learning y'all. :)

Let me make it clear, however, that I DO vacuum in the bedroom- twice a week, in fact. I just don't move the very heavy furniture. I move furniture in other areas of the house that is easy for me to move, but our bedroom has been overlooked by me.

Anyway, there was quite a bit of dust under there and the thought of those dust mites MADE MY SKIN CRAWL!!!!!!!!!!!! So, I want to issue a challenge to everyone, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE move each piece of furniture in your home and vacuum underneath all of them within the next month. What do you think? Can you do that? Most of y'all probably move all of your funiture monthly, but there are probably a few who, like me, have very heavy furniture in spots and those particular spots have been long forgotten by the vacuum cleaner.

Anyone with me on this?

Let's get those nasty dust mites OUT OF OUR HOMES!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't do this either. I hate to think what's lurking under there. Yuck.

The last time I vacuumed under our bed was when we moved in a year ago. Yikes!! I will have to remember to do it monthly. Thank you for this post.

Vacuuming is not my favorite chore. I can't tell you the last time I sweep under my bed. I guess I need to add this to my list.

I printed the picture of the dust mite and put it on my fridge. Never again will I say, "I'll get around to vacuuming tomorrow"!

Uck! Those are some creepy photos. I have to say that I do move all of my furniture regulary. Although, it's really easy for me to move because we have wood floors.

I discovered several years ago that dust piles up, especially in carpet. So when we purchased our home we made sure to go hardwood.

It's disgusting what carpet holds and you have to keep up on your housekeeping with wood floors so the dust bunnies don't carry you away. Truly, they literally appear in moments and will float around after you on wood!

I love to vacuum and hit the downstairs family room and master bedroom probably twice a week. (Golden Retriever – living in the desert – ‘nuf said!)

Anyway – we are home educators and start our year in January. We study for 9 weeks and take a month off, year round. So the first week of that month off is spent in deep, move-the-furniture kind of cleaning. On a rotation, every room gets deep cleaned twice a year, and it’s great. Not as great as every 3 months would be – but we take what we can get.

First, you fix your family frozen pizza, then you don't lift your 2 ton bed to vacuum underneath it? Shame, shame. :D

Thanks for the reminder to vacuum! Even if we can't see any dirt...there is still stuff there. Yuck!

The last time I moved our bed to vacuum under it was a couple of months ago (and before that it had been over a year)! It was super dusty and gross. I regularly move the living room furniture, but our bed is just too much for me to move alone, so it rarely gets done. Maybe I can get everyone to pitch in this weekend. Thanks for the reminder! :)
