I know I mentioned a while back that we are in the process of adopting again. This time we are going to be pursuing a domestic adoption. This means our next child will be born here in the USA.
Today we had our home visit with our caseworker. BOY WAS I NERVOUS!!! But she is such a sweet lady who clearly loves the Lord, it is so easy to talk with her. She visited with us for our official in home meeting and then she even stayed for lunch with us. What fun!!
What's next? Well, our paperwork is all done now and we will be waiting for the official letter from our agency saying our homestudy is complete. Once that happens, our family profile (basically a scrapbook with pictures of our family and basic information about us) will be made available for birthmothers to look at. In this adoption, a birthmother will actually have to choose our family (with China, the huge government agency, CCAA, matches up a child's file with a family file). It could take a few weeks or even a few years. It all depends on whether a birthmother likes our family or not.
We will also be contacting groups about adoption grants. If y'all know of anyone that handles adoption grants, would you mind sharing that with me? We would really appreciate any help we could get!! :)
Anyway, if y'all think about it, please pray for us. We do need funds to cover the adoption and to purchase things for a newborn baby (Elizabeth was 9 1/2 months when we got her, so we don't have any newborn things). If the call came in the next few weeks, we would have to say "no" because we don't have all the money we need.
I can't wait for the day when I will be able to show pictures of our new little one!!!

((Mrs U)) ~ Thank you for sharing more details about your next adoption. You are already on my prayer list for this, but I will now know better how to pray.
It's just amazing to know that God already has a little one chosen for you and knows exactly when your precious bundle will arrive. Such exciting times!
Hugs and Blessings to you and yours.
What a great mission. I pray Our Lord guides you and sends His angel in front of your steps so everything will be well.

I had been wondering how this process was going for you. I will be praying for you!
How exciting! You're one step closer!!!
I can't wait to read more updates from you!
When we adopted our son, his adoption was domestic as well. We didn't have a huge budget for adoption expenses, and at times wondered where the money would come from. But God provided in some amazing ways.
After everything was done, our facilitator actually used our family as an example because our adoption ended up being so low in fees. I know that's not the norm, but that was one way God provided for us.
Anyway, I'm excited for you!
Ahhhh!!!! So excited for you!!!! I'm going to e-mail you!!
Mrs. U! That is wonderful!!! I am so excited! Of course the home visit went well, your home is so welcoming and warm :D I love your home, and the people in it.
The second-to-the-last sentence made me sad! I hope the money comes quickly! I'll be praying! Don't worry too much about newborn things...surely your friends will shower you with newborn items (or boy items!) {wink}. Don't worry, God will work it out. What mother wouldn't want her child in your home, I know I would!
Melissa :D
You know your sister-n-law will help you out with the newborn things. Hannah and Sarah would love to share with their new little cousin! :)
Hi Mrs. U, this is Mrs. Accountability from over at Out of Debt Again. Just wanted to stop by and visit your blog since you stopped by mine and left a comment. I find it so admirable that you and your husband are adopting another child, congratulations on your news!
Thanks for the update! I don't have any advice, but I will be praying!
Good Luck! Me and my Family are in a simaliar situation up here in Canada. We are looking to start the adoption process soon!! We are looking at domestic adoption also.
Good Luck !! and keep the blog updated I would love to see the happy ending to your journey!!
Have you considered becoming a foster parent. I have had 14 babies come through my home and all but 1 went to adoptive homes. This is how I adopted my 4 year old and adopting through fostercare is free. If we were still looking to adopt we could have had all 13 babies as none went back to their birth family.
Thank you for sharing your adoption journey. I think it's great that you're adopting a child from the US.
Great news! One step closer in the exciting journey. God bless you.
I'm standing with you in prayer for this.
Can't wait to "meet" your newest blessing!
Trixie
Praying for all your needs to be supplied and praying in advance for the precious one that will be blessed with a loving family.
So, you joined me in waiting on domestic adoption. I hope your wait will end soon!
I happened upon your blog thru Nesting Place as the mention of adoption caught my eye. Our family has been going down this same road for the past 6 months and are still waiting for our child to come home! I'll be praying for your family as we wait too.
I also wanted to pass along an organization that we found that has been great with our adoption, Lifesongfororphans.org. They come alongside families and help with fundraising ideas and even match donations. They also provide a tax-deductible way for friends and family to make a donation towards your agency fees and get a tax donation for their contribution. They've been great to work with and our friends and family have loved getting the benefit (even though they would support us without it!).
Good luck and God bless!
Becca
