How to fold fitted sheets...

In case you have ever struggled with neatly folding fitted sheets, here's a video for you. To be honest with you, I sort of just semi folded mine and sat the fitted sheet on top so that no one could see my poorly executed attempt at folding. I tried to comfort myself with the fact that at least I DID try to fold it, however bad the end result was. I have actually heard of people that didn't bother to fold them at all. They just wadded them up and stuck them in the back of their linen closet!!

When I found this video, I followed her instructions and now I can happily say that I can neatly fold a fitted sheet!!!!!

Are you able to fold a fitted sheet?? If not, try following this ladies helpful advice. :)

Mrs. U,

When I worked at the Hilton we used flat sheets only. I suppose this was for time efficiency, and it really worked. We didn't have to worry about having enough pairs, we just grabbed a stack of flats.

All one has to do is hospital tuck (which is really easy) the head of the bed as well as the foot. It works amazingly and holds well into place. When a marry I plan on registering for only flats. No more worrying about having to stretch and pull the elastics again!

Thanks for your video though, as I am a wader-upper!

My hubby is always amazed at how neatly I can fold the fitted sheets. I'll have to ask him to watch this video to show him that I am not the only woman out there who can fold a fitted sheet. LOL
Thank you for sharing this video. There were a lot of other neat videoDos that I am going to have to check out!

I seem to be able to fold fitted sheets, but like Melissa, above, I prefer to use all flat sheets. For my queen bed, I use a king flat sheet on the bottom. It stays tucked in until I deliberately take it off. With fitted sheets, they stay on for maybe two days, then I have to take the bed apart and remake it. Thanks for the nifty video, though. :-D

I have to admit I have at times been tempted to wad it up. I can't believe I just admitted that!

The video is exactly the way my mom taught me to fold a fitted sheet. She is so good that she doesn't have to lay it down. She is able to pull it out of the dryer and fold it in the air. I guess that is from all of her years of experience!

I can and do fold my fitted sheets. I had never thought of using flat sheets - you ladies are very bright! I may one day attempt that.

My Granny taught me to wash, fold, and store my bed linens together. Fold the fitted sheet, the flat sheet and all but one pillow case. Then tuck them all neatly into the last pillow case, fold the end over and place in the linen closet. They are all together - no searching for matches. It works wonderful.

Melissa and Ginny, when you use flat sheets instead of fitted, how do they stay tucked in? Do they not come untucked all the time???

jthemilker, have you ever blogged (with pictures) how you do this? I would love to see it!! It sounds so neat and tidy!!!

Okay I will admit. I am a wadder. My grandmother and aunt have tried to teach me to fold fitted sheets and I am all thumbs. They gave up. So did I!!

But thanks for the video!

Thanks for sharing the video. My DH and I were talking about finding a neat way of folding the fitted sheet last night.

By the way, I was wondering if I could add a link to you blog onto my blog?

jthemilker: What a neat idea! I might have to try that some time!

Mrs. U: A really good hospital tuck isn't coming undone very easily! Next time you make your bed from the start, use your flat first and hospital tuck it. Your flat might be to small to use that way, but if not, lay on it, tug it a little, see if it stays put. Perhaps it might work wonderfully for you! You may never buy fitted again, hehe!

Mrs. U.,

I don't understand how it works, but it does. Fitted sheets are the bane of my existence. I like to be able to sleep in a bed and have it look almost made when I get out of it in the morning, but with fitted sheets, I sometimes wake up with no bottom sheet. LOL! It wouldn't hurt to give it a try, if you can find a king-size flat sheet at a thrift store or something.

In Christ,

Ginny

Mrs. U, would you believe that I never knew there was a "proper" way to fold a fitted sheet until I saw this video you linked to?

I always just folded the fitted sheet as neatly as I could, then stored it with the matching flat sheet and pillowcases.

Thanks for sharing. I'll bet more people would enjoy knowing about this.
